August 2009 – Goin’ Local

Greetings from Richmond, Virginia!  We are now home and unpacked after our final family travels of the summer.  Simple joys like hanging wash on an outdoor clothesline, knowing where to find good running and biking trails and handling the cereal aisle with some measure of decorum are now part of our lives.  The kids can find their Sunday School classrooms at church (Stony Point Pres for those of you familiar with Richmond), we found a farmer’s market (imagine their surprise when we tried to bargain!) and will even enjoy a local county fair this week – complete with dog shows, rides and yes, funnel cake!

With all this settling in comes the inevitable need for Daniel to begin his travels for Kumveka in earnest.  He left Tuesday morning for a four day trip to Indiana and Michigan, later this month to Atlanta, then to China for a ten day trip at the end of September.  He will be meeting with financial supporters, key advisors and continue work on his first Kumveka projects.  We are thrilled that God is allowing Daniel to use his unique gifts and passion in this ground-breaking ministry to ministries!

We also want to express our sincere thanks for your prayers for Zach.  He is sleeping much better now.  As you may know, Sara will be homeschooling Zach this school year, while Noah, Mia and Hannah enter a local Christian school (Veritas Classical Christian School). Zach and Sara are excited about getting caught up on US and Virginia history (field trips are going to be so much fun!), reading aloud wonderful novels in the park, beginning a Latin course on DVD and blowing up stuff in chemistry (mom is less excited about this part).  Zach will be teaching Sara from his math book, as it was never her strong suit and will be a good opportunity for him to be the teacher, too (we are only a little kidding about this)!

So that is what we are up to these days … reveling in God’s goodness to our family, pouring out grace upon grace, restoring our energy, feeding our souls, reviving our spirits.  What an unimaginable privilege to be The Beloved!

With our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and love for our family along this journey,
Dan & Sara
